What are some simple recipes that work great catching catfish?

I try so many things but they don't work that well. What are some simple recipes that work great catching catfish?
I would advise you to try the following:

1) Anchovies - 1'; cubes should work just fine depending on the size of the Cats you are going after, which will give you about 4 or 5 pieces of bait per typical sized anchovy. Stripers like anchovies as well so you may be fighting them off.

2) Beef or Chicken liver - Are excellent, smelly bait that Cats love. However, Chicken liver is a very delicate bait, so be careful when you cast. The fresher the bait, the better. If the liver is frozen, it's not going to stay on the hook very well at all. Thawing it seems to greatly weaken it's integrity. Stripers like it as well, so...

3) Nightcrawlers - What fish does not like worms??

4) Live minnows - Catfish love live minnows. They really like shad.

5) Crawdads - It's a hard decision to make. Catch the crawdads to use as bait for to use as my dinner... Cats have been known to go a little nuts if you hook a live crawdad to your hook. Even been known to line up in a straight line waiting to be the next to scarf the bait as soon as you cast it.

Hope this helps %26amp; enjoy!

Ive tried a lot of stuff and different recipes for these guys but havent had a lot of luck. I've had friends make they're own stuff but i always seem to outfish them with bluegills and occasionally chicken livers. My favorite and most simple bait to throw at these guys are cut up bluegills. Ill go out once every couple months and keep a load of bluegills and put in my freezer for when i decide to go catfishing. You can get a good 5 pieces of bait off a good sized bluegill. This stuff will stay on the hook after pulling in a couple of catfish which is great. Another great thing about it is nothing will mess with it besides catfish and a rare turtle whereas using stuff like chicken livers you'll get a lot of turtles, bluegills, and even bass taking stabs at it.
Check the archives. That question has been asked and answered a million times on here. There are hundreds of recipes. I would recommend using crawdads, grasshoppers, clams, or perch. Catawba worms if you can get 'em.
