Any quick simple recipes that I can fix for the kids? All help appreciated!?

I am looking for fun recipes that I can cook for the kids. Between working and trying to raise a family time is not a luxury that I have.

I am also open to fun recipes suck as brownies, tinkerbell cakes etc...Any quick simple recipes that I can fix for the kids? All help appreciated!?
Buy a basic tomato and cheese or 4 cheeses pizza and add your own extra toppings - onion, sweetcorn, peppers, herbs, meats, etc - and top with more cheese. Maybe even cut it into two or four pieces and, after cutting up the toppings, let the children choose their own extra bits before topping with the cheese and baking.

A microwaved potato is very quick (8-10 mins for 3 or 4 medium sized ones at once) and can be filled with cheese, etc and then finished under the grill, or mix some tuna and mayo together (perhaps with sweetcorn or onion or cucumber) and fill it with that.

Fish fillets can be seasoned with salt and pepper, wrapped in foil and steamed over boiling vegetables or baked in the oven.

Pork or lamb steaks/chops can be grilled within ten minutes. Chicken, cut into thin strips, with thin strips of vegetables, can be stir-fried with spices of choice or simply add some shop-bought Chinese stir-fry sauce.

Vegetables - courgette (zucchini), peppers, tomatoes, aubergine, carrot, parsnip, sweet potatoes, onions, etc - can be cut into chunks, tossed with salt, pepper and olive oil and then roasted in a medium-to-hot oven. It takes an hour or so but you only need to shake them a couple of times while cooking so the time is 'free' to do other things (I realise that there never really is any 'free' time when you've got kids but that's life!). Put some of the foil-wrapped fish on another shelf in the oven when the veg only needs another 20 mins or so (or chicken, though you'll need to cook this for about 40 mins)

and they'll all be ready to serve together.

As for desserts, make up a sponge mix (packet if necessary) and add any fruit, honey, jams, etc that you like to it before baking. Try mixing 100g of butter with 4 tablespoons of caster sugar and then mixing in a pack (125g) of soft cream cheese (';Philadelphia'; brand in the UK). Add a tablespoon or more of orange/lemon juice to thin it slightly (and some grated zest too if the kids don't find it too sharp) and spread over the sponge or through the middle. Mmm, yummy. It may sound a bit odd - some people don't like the idea of sweet cheese but, believe me, I've never found a kid who didn't want to lick the bowl clean once they'd tasted it! Plus you can always mash strawberries or pineapple int it. Remember it needs to be kept in the fridge...although mine never last long enough to have to do this!

Hope this helps.Any quick simple recipes that I can fix for the kids? All help appreciated!?

Easy Cookies (Kids love these!) [adult supervision for younger children]

Submitted by: A Guest

1 cup sugar

1 cup white corn syrup

1 1/2 cups peanut butter

4 cups Corn Flakes

Combine the sugar and corn syrup. This just needs to come to a boil so that the sugar dissolves. You can do this in a saucepan on top of the stove or you can use the microwave. A 2-qt. container in the microwave needs 4 min. on high or a 1 qt. container needs 5 min. on high. Add the peanut butter and stir until it is smooth. Stir in the Corn Flakes. Line a jelly roll pan with waxed paper. Drop the cookie mixture by teaspoon while still warm. You may need to reshape them a bit after you are finished dropping the mixture. Makes delicious cookies when you need them in a hurry.

Campbell's soup has fast recipes on their soup labels as well as Kraft Marconi and cheese and Velveeta.
Broiled shrimp scampi. Put half a stick of butter in a bowl with a little salt, pepper, and 3 cloves of garlic on medium until the butter is melted. It takes about 3 minutes. While this is happening put a pot of water on to boil. Then season peeled devined shrimp with lemon pepper. Pour the butter over the shrimp with 1/4 c. white wine. Broil about 5 minutes, just until the shrimp are done. Drain the pasta and put it back in the pot. Toss with some of the liquid from the shrimp bake. It takes 15 minutes tops.

Also baked quesadillas. Put whatever in there your kids will eat.

Also, don't forget breakfast. We rarely get to eat a hot breakfast together, so some nights we have pancakes, bacon and eggs.

Also, at least once a week I made a large piece of meat and reuse it. This Sunday I made a roast chicken dinner. I used some of the chicken in quesadillas later in the week. Then I made pot pies (chicken, veggies and gravy in a muffin tin topped with a refridgerator biscuit in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes).

Cook up a ground beef, peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms, whatever you like (and the kids won't notice most of the veggies). Add about 2/3 jar of tomato sauce and let simmer about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly. Hollow out a loaf of Italian bread and top with mozz cheese. Bake at 400 about 10 minutes. Oh, toast the bread slightly while cooking the meat.
Make a roux, add cheese then some milk and then tuna. Put on toast.
for a quickmeal we make spaggeti carbonara - cook the pasta in a pan then fry some onion mushroom %26amp; bacon, add to the frying pan the cooked pasta %26amp; then cover with store bought cheese sauce.

We also make tortilla wraps with grated cheese %26amp; ham %26amp; they can be heated in the frying pan for a minute just to melt the cheese, i serve these with corn on the cobs for tea.
