Looking for simple recipes for a teenager to make-dinner?

i really want to make a collage of random recipes i find and can make to help out my mom who always stresses about dinner. my brothers kinda picky though, and it needs to be kinda easy and under 50 minutes, and not too expensive.Looking for simple recipes for a teenager to make-dinner?
Nachos -- brown some ground beef, mix in corn, black beans and a little bit of cumin to taste. Cover a cookie sheet with tortilla chips. Sprinkle monterrey jack cheese over all the chips. Then spoon the beef/corn/bean mixture onto chips(I do it kinda messily so it's sort of all over the place). Top with more cheese. Bake in the oven at, I dunno, maybe 350 degrees(it really doesn't matter, just don't turn the heat up too much) until the cheese is all melted. Serve with sour cream and salsa.

Pasta - Make sure to salt your water and get it to a rolling boil before putting in the pasta. Cook it until there's just a slight bite to it. Dump some sauce on it! Hunt's Chunky Garlic %26amp; Herb is a GREAT quick sauce for less than a buck. If you want to get fancy, sautee or steam your favorite vegetable while the pasta's cooking. Put your sauce into a pan, toss in the vegetables and warm up your sauce that way so the flavors have a little time to incorporate.

Cheap cheap stir fry - They sell bottles of really good stir-fry sauce. Make some ramen noodles, heat up some frozen veggies(I like broccoli, mushrooms and water chestnuts), toss it all together in a big pot and warm it for a while.Looking for simple recipes for a teenager to make-dinner?
Chicken-Noodle Bowls

Time: 25 minutes

2 cups wide egg noodles, uncooked

1 package (32 ounces) chicken broth, divided

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Pinch of poultry seasoning

1 bag (12 ounces) steam-to-cook frozen vegetables

1 package (10 ounces) ready-to-serve sliced chicken breasts or 2 cups cooked, diced chicken

2/3 cup instant potato flakes

1/4 cup milk

1 tablespoon butter

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 bag (5 1/2 ounces) baked potato chips, crushed

Cook noodles in salted water until just done; drain and set aside.

Pour 1 cup of broth, the flour, and poultry seasoning into a jar with a tight-fitting lid and shake to blend.

In large saucepan, heat remaining 3 cups of broth to boiling over high heat; whisk in broth-flour mixture and continue to whisk while broth comes back to a boil.

Lower heat and simmer mixture until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes.

Cook vegetables in microwave as directed, about 4 minutes.

Stir cooked vegetables, noodles, and chicken into broth.

Divide mixture among 6 ramekins or ovenproof bowls.

Heat broiler.

In a bowl, combine potato flakes, milk, butter, salt, and 1/2 cup water.

Cover and microwave 2 to 3 minutes, until thickened.

Stir in crushed potato chips.

Place ramekins in a baking pan.

Divide and flatten potato mixture into 6 disks.

Place on top of ramekins and broil 1 to 2 minutes or until topping is crispy.

Remove with hot mitts and protect the surface you're putting the hot dishes on.

Makes 6 servings.
My kids are early 20's, and these have been two of their favorite dishes for ages. Both are inexpensive and really, really simple.

CHICKEN AND RICE

Cooked white rice

Frozen peas

Cooked chicken, shredded or cut into cubes

Canned chicken gravy

I parboil my chicken -- just remove the skin, sprinkle with salt and pepper and boil for about ten minutes or until no longer pink. Let cool. Shred or cube. In a saucepan, toss in a couple of jars/cans of chicken gravy and turn heat to medium. Add some frozen peas, salt and pepper and the chicken. Cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through. Serve over the cooked, white rice with a nice little salad on the side.

CHICKEN TACO SALAD

Iceberg lettuce, shredded

Tomatoes, diced

Can of diced jalapenos

Shredded cheddar and/or monterey jack cheese

Sliced black olives

Boneless, skinless chicken

Taco seasoning (can buy in little envelope packages)

French dressing

Fritos

Put one or two envelopes of the taco seasoning in a plastic bag with the chicken and shake until the chicken is coated. Place in a baking dish and bake at 375 for about 20 minutes or until cooked through. Meanwhile, mix the lettuce, tomatoes, olives, chiles and French dressing. Mound in the middle of the plate. Top with the cooked chicken and a handful of the shredded cheese. Surround with Fritos.

Voila! It's dinner!
Roast Lamb Shanks.*

(by Dune 7/10/08)

Colour 4 Lamb Shanks in some oil in a frying pan and transfer to an oven dish. (one at a time)

Drain pan and de- glaze using a little water and get all those pieces that remain and add some stock or stock cubes.

Pour stock over shanks and cover, place in a hot oven. (preheated to maximum)

When the oven regains temperature, cut back the heat to 165C. (320F)

Cook for about an hour, turning the shanks a couple of times.

Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed minted green peas and shredded cabbage.

Use bottled mint sauce or make your own, or pan gravy to finish off an easy cook meal.
There are some very useful answers for you in the question a few below yours titled 'I want to show my friends that I am capable of cooking, any recipe advice?'.

My answer there should come in under 50 minutes, tastes great, and can be adapted for the microwave, using more cheese, and sometimes one egg each if you are not very hungry. If you microwave it, just make sure the egg has set. It it hasn't, just put it back in for a bit longer.
Slice hillshire sausage/Polska Kielbasa fry in a lil oil and set aside

Make a box of Velveeta Mac %26amp; Cheese according to the directions then add the sausage and fold it into it. Serve with broccoli or your choice of veggie on the side or added to it. Takes about 20 minutes to make everything.
