thanks and happy holidays!Does anyone know any simple recipes?
Heres a perfect one for you. I have a Cake recipe. Easy and its a BIG hit where ever I go.
Take one box of german chocolate cake mix, and follow instructions on the box (bake, and let cool)
Take a straw and poke a lot of holes in the cake.
Take smuckers carmel sauce and pour it into the holes
Then cover the top of the cake with cool-whip.
Finally Take crushed Heath Candy Bars and sprinke on top.
Anytime I have a get together or go to someones get together, they make it a point to tell me I have to make one.Does anyone know any simple recipes?
Angel Cookies for Easy Bake Oven
Ingredients:
6 tsp. butter
3 tsp. sugar
3 tsp. brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1/4 cup flour
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. baking soda
Directions:
Cream together butter, sugars and salt. Add flour, cream of tartar and baking soda. Bake for 5 minutes.
Make stained glass cookies. Just use any sugar cookie recipe or store-bought cookie dough and crushed Jolly Ranchers. Let the kids roll the dough into ';snakes'; and form circles or any other shape with them. Place on well-greased cookie sheet. To crush the candies, simply place in a zip lock bag, wrap in a dishcloth and hammer them. Let the kids put the candies inside the dough frame. Bake according to cookie recipe. The heat of the oven will melt the candies and they will look like stained glass.
Painted cookies - again, use your fav sugar cookie recipe. Roll out, use cookie cutters. To make paint, take 1 egg yolk and mix well with about 1/4 tsp water. Divide into custard cups. Tea cups work, too! Add food coloring to each, then let the kids paint their own designs on with small paint brushes. Bake according to cookie instructions. These paints work well on any light-colored cookie and they're easier for the kids to use than decorator frosting.
Have fun!

Since it looks like you have plenty of dessert type suggestions, I will give you some good side dish recipes. Make mashed potatoes, and have the kids mash them up. After you boil the potatoes (2 lbs) have the kids mash them, and then stir in some hot milk (1 cup, but add it a little at a time so that you can get the consistency you are looking for). Add some butter (2 or 3 tablespoons) and salt and pepper for taste. Also, while it is still hot you can add some shredded cheddar cheese for cheesy mashed potatoes.
Another good place to look is on the back of cans and boxes. These are usually good basic recipes that only have a few steps. If you like them, you can always experiment later with adding more flavors. I have a 2 year old, so I know it is best to try and keep them busy while you get other things done.
Also, get the sugar cookie tubes from the grocery store and have your kids decorate them with sprinkles and icing after you have cooked them. Messy, but lots of fun and creates some good memories.
Call for pizza!
